I'm hobbling along on a modified blog template here -- it looks much different from my usual evil-dog-inspired template. Blogger.com modifications are having some problems with my old template. I'll give it a few days to see if the problem gets resolved. In the mean time, welcome to boredom template!

Today was a wonderful day of biking, hanging out at the neighborhood pool, practicing piano, and baking some delicious whole wheat bread -- with a catnap and StarTrek episode thrown in for good measure. I'm thinking about a possible run to Key West in late July; a few guys I met when I was there last are rounding up a get-together. I could still teach my online course, but would hate to be stuck in front of the computer too much when there's so much fun and sun to be had.

There's a Chipotle resteraunt about 2 blocks from my office, which I frequent at least once a week because it's closeby and they have fresh, decent food. They're looking for help and, as I left with my food, I imagined myself modifying my resume to focus on the efficient, graceful, snappy qualities that only a gay man could wrap in one package. Exactly how does one convey that in a resume tactfully? Not that I'm at all looking for "other" work, but it was a quirky little daydream I allowed myself on the stroll back to the office.

Went car shopping last weekend and found something, so we went ahead and made the purchase. One thing to say here: Volvo S60. Like I said earlier, "he who's finished with grad school..." Seriously, though, Jim really likes the Volvo, and wanted to get it at least as much as I did. We kept the Acura (ditched the CRV, although it was a great car) so now we have a nice balance of two-door/5-speed and four-door/automatic. I'm amazed at the endless safety features in the Volvo, but what I've truly fallen in love with are the rear air vents in the side door area that passengers can direct at their whimsy.

Okay, I'm trying to re-initiate my blogging. You'll see that it's been about 6 months since my last post! Sorry about the lapse; here's the skinny: I'm way too busy and Jim still has no thesis to speak of. I'm too busy to take another "key west-like" vacation -- although it was absolutely grand. Much, much relaxation. Anyway, back to the 6 month update: bought piano, started playing piano, thinking about a new car, but not sure I want to spend the money. REALLY like the Volvo S60's. Jim likes the Acura RSX's. I think he who is finished with grad school gets to pick.

It's getting closer to my Key West getaway. I'm really excited. Jim is actually doing a pretty good job of pretending not to be too upset that I'm going. I leave next Saturday. A good time will be had by all!

The office party at our house friday went well. No major problems or drunks. I told Jim to take it easy on the booze, though. Was *really* embarrassed a few years ago when the three times that we happened to go out with some now out-of-town friends, Blake and Meredith, that Jim had *way* too much to drink each time, loosing his cookies. So, now I'm sure they think he's an alcoholic or something. Except that most alcoholics probably don't throw up like that.

We were sprinkled with a few snowflakes today, but nothing to be impressed with whatsoever. I'm waiting for some really, really deep stuff to take Cowboy out for a good old romp through the snow.

Jim and I are having my office over Friday night. Much to the probable dismay of several attendees, there won't be strings of christmas lights marking the path every which way throughout the house. The christmas tree isn't up yet, and there certainly won't be trashy icycle lights hanging from our gutters. I'll let you guess how I feel about plastic santas, wire-framed reindeer and all the other stuff that someone should be shot for ever bringing to market.

We may do some tasteful, candle-light brown bags along the sidewalk and porch steps, though. And we'll have some good music, food and drink. I am a bit concerned as one person from the office is a recovering alcoholic. I assume that she would know there would be alcohol there, but perhaps I should just mention it to be sure.
